Changes I make to my RapidWeaver website aren't being published

If you've made changes to a RapidWeaver site that, once you've clicked Publish, aren't appearing on your live website please follow these steps.

1. Empty your Browser Cache

All modern browsers use caching to store a version of web pages to speed up the loading of the page when you next visit the page. Unfortunately, this caching can mean that the older version of your page is stored by the browser instead of it reloading the new version when you enter a URL. To force the browser to load your page afresh, simply use the relevant Empty Cache option (found in Safari under the Safari menu -> Empty Cache).

2. Look for the blue dots

When making changes to a previously published to your page, does the page have a blue dot placed next to it in the page list? The blue dots signify that a page has changed, and are used by RapidWeaver's smart publishing engine to determine whether a page has changed. If the page isn't marking itself as changed, contact the developer behind the plugin for further assistance.

3. Have you changed the file name of the page that isn't updating?

If you change the filename of a page (say to index.php from index.html) you may need to log into your server using Transmit or CyberDuck and remove the original page in order for it to show. You may also need to re-publish more than just one page in your project to ensure that the navigation menu is correct on all the pages in your project.

4. Check your FTP settings

We always recommend that users go to the File menu -> Publishing Settings option to check that they haven't made any unintended changes to your publishing settings.
