Registering Socialite

Whilst we would love you to register Socialite with a shiny new serial number and unlock the demo version you have downloaded, you can run it in demo mode for as long as you like. The only limitation is that you may only add a maximum of 2 services in demo mode.

When Socialite launches for the first time, you will be prompted to do one of three things:

  • Purchase Socialite
  • Enter a valid serial number
  • Run Socialite in Demo mode

After you've made your choice, Socialite will launch and you you're ready to get social!

Adding a Service

To start adding services to Socialite simply select the plus button (+) in the lower left corner of the sidebar and choose your desired service.

In this example we're going to add a account for the popular micro-blogging service: Twitter.

Click the Add Service button and select Twitter from the service list. Socialite then asks you to give the account a name or you can simply leave the field blank to give it a default service name.

Socialite will then guide you through the authorisation process. Varying services (be it Twitter, Facebook or Flickr) use different processes to authorise your account. However, Socialite makes it easy by providing a 'Web View' within the application so that you do not need to leave Socialite in order to allow access - simply follow the onscreen directions.

The Main Window

All your services are listed in the Sidebar along with folders that are relevant to each service. So in the case of Twitter - you can can choose to display your entire timeline, your Mentions, Direct Messages, Favourites or Lists in the main event window.

Post a tweet by typing in the input pane beneath the main event window and hitting 'Send'. You can even shorten a URL simply by using the default keyboard shortcut: Cmd + J anywhere within the URL to shorten it using your preferred shortening service.

Quick Send

Socialite includes a Quick Send feature so that you can post status updates when Socialite's main window is minimised or closed. Configure a custom keyboard shortcut for Quick Send in Socialite's preferences so that the Quick Send box is only a keystoke away.
