"automatically mark events as read as I scroll past them" not working properly
When I check the box for "automatically mark events as read as I scroll past them" I assume it will mark items as read as I scroll downwards, which is does. However, it also will mark items read as I scroll upwards (backwards). This means that if I have several unread items on a page and I start scrolling back upwards to look at some of the tweets that I have already scrolled past, the unread items will be marked as read, which is not expected behavior.

Hi there
Thanks for your message. I've taken a look into this, and can't seem to replicate the issue exactly. When scrolling up, as events go out of the view, they're marked as read here (which seems to be the correct behaviour). If you're able to provide any screenshots (or video) of what you're seeing it'd be much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Nik

To phrase it a different way, I read my twitter feed in Socialite from the top scrolling downwards. So when scrolling downward, it would be the correct behavior to mark posts read as I scroll down (and this is indeed what happens).
However, scrolling upwards also marks posts read as I go up, which for me is a behavior that I did not expect since upwards scrolling is mainly used just to go through posts I have already read. Does this help? So maybe not a bug per se, but (in my opinion) a design flaw, since the flow of the program is to read from top to bottom, so a feature that auto-marks posts as read should also have a top-to-bottom mindset, or at least be configurable in that way.

Hi there
Thanks for your message. As you note, 'Mark as Read when Scrolling' isn't direction aware: however it's not something we plan to change or allow the configuration of at this time. We're trying to keep the preferences of Socialite slimmed down, and we're not all that keen on offering preferences for existing preferences where we can help it.
Thanks!
Nik

OK, now I have found what I think is a bug. If I am looking at a page full of "unread" facebook posts, if I click on the comments button on one of the posts to read comments on that post, when I click back to the list of facebook posts, all the ones on the current page will be marked as read even if I have not yet scrolled past them.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that you're still experiencing issues. I'm currently unable to recreate this issue with Facebook statuses. Could you detail the exact steps you are taking to recreate this issue?
Kind regards,
Luke

I have attached 3 photos. A "before" shot of me with all of my unread posts. Then a shot of clicking on Richard Mills' post comments. Then, a post from when I return to the main screen and all of the posts are now marked as read even though I haven't scrolled past them. This happens on a consistent basis when I take these steps. Please let me know if this clarifies things for you.

Hi there,
Could you try downloading and installing the Socialite 1.1 Beta 4 from the following link and let us know if you still encounter the issue?

Yes, the issue still occurs in Socialite 1.1 (full release, not beta).

Hi there,
Thanks for the update. We're unfortunately currently still unable to recreate this issue. Have you tried removing and re-adding the Facebook service in Socialite?
Kind regards,
Luke

I tried deleting and re-adding the facebook account, and it did not change. The issue is clearly documented in the series of 3 photos that I posted previously. To clarify further, the only posts marked as read when I exit the comment from a post back to the "main screen" of posts are the posts that are onscreen (posts that I would have to scroll to see are unaffected). So what is happening when I click on a post's comments button is that apparently socialite sees the posts that were viewable next to the post I clicked on and thinks that they are scrolled past to mark as read. Not sure how I can further explain this...
