Lots of Issues Seemingly Unrelated

Hi,

I've been using Socialite happily since back when it was EventBox. The most recent update has caused me a lot of issues that I'm not sure how to solve, so I'm hoping someone can help.

At first I thought I was having something like the Facebook issues that are being discussed. Facebook is always in 'syncing' mode (the little spinning indeterminate progress indicator by the service in the sidebar) and after launching Socialite I get no updates. Also, Socialite, or Facebook, or whoever, doesn't remember when I've read anything. So, to be clear, when I launch Socialite I get a Facebook service with all the status updates and photos since I updated to 1.0.3 shown as unread…and for as long as Socialite is open, I get no new status updates…and then when I quit Socialite and relaunch it, I again get everything all the way back to when I updated to 1.0.3 (including new stuff since the last time I launched the app.)

So anyway, I removed FB as a service. I then quit Socialite and relaunched it, and to my surprise there's Facebook again…with all the same issues as I've just described.

I've been having a somewhat similar issue with Twitter…it will 'sync' and stay 'live' (that is, continue to receive updates while the application is running)…but it doesn't seem to remember that I've read anything since updating to 1.0.3, and if I remove the service and quit and relaunch the application…it doesn't stay removed.

So, what I did was:

  1. Remove Twitter and Facebook as services.
  2. Quit Socialite.
  3. Launched Keychain Access and removed the Twitter and Facebook passwords that were linked to Socialite (and EventBox).
  4. Ran through the steps here.
  5. Relaunched Socialite.
  6. Entered my serial number.
  7. Re-added all my services.
  8. Marked everything as read.
  9. Quit Socialite.
  10. Re-relaunched Socialite…and…no services are in the sidebar now.

NO SERVICES GET REMEMBERED IN THE SIDEBAR

Basically, unless there's a fix I feel like I have two options for using Socialite: re-add all my services every time I launch Socialite, or never quit Socialite. Neither is really something I'm going to do…which is a bummer because I like Socialite.

I'm happy to answer any questions, and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
//Matt

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for the message. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with Socialite, I understand what an inconvenience this may be for you.

    This issues sounds like it is related to previous EventBox data. Could you double-check that you removed all of the Application Support and Preference files in the FAQ that you previously went through here:

    Kind regards,

    Luke

    Hi Luke,

    Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I definitely did delete all those files, and have now re-deleted them (I zipped them and attached them to this email in case they help you ID the problem).

    Still…after removing these I have the same problems as described before.

    Thanks,
    //Matt Hayes

    Hi Matthew,

    Sorry to hear that you're still experiencing issues. If you re-start your Mac in safe boot and launch Socialite before launching any other Application or start-up item do you still experience the same issues?

    Kind regards,

    Luke
