Getting tired of having to remove/add Google Reader due to authentication problems
Why does this keep happening? Twice this week. It happens even after following these steps.

Me too... I've already tried this a lot of times but it doesn't seem to work for more than 2 days. :-(
Any other solution?
Btw @Dani: it's the same link ;-) But thanks anyway.

Same here.
Just had the authentication issue ONCE AGAIN and of course I fixed it by following the steps at http://support.realmacsoftware.com/faqs/socialite/google-reader-aut...
This is driving me crazy.
When it happens once more, I'm switching RSS readers, this is just INSANE.

Same here. I really love the application (single stream for everything), but if this continues, it kinda makes it useless.
It's possible that the problem is Google changing things, but the application needs to adapt to that possibility much better.

I found a post from another member Robert Andrescik and his suggestion seems to have worked. Remove Google Reader from your services, then add it again, but in the "Name" field in the pop up window, don't give it the name "Google Reader" - call it something else, i.e. GR or New Google Reader. Hopefully this will fix it for you....

Removing and re-adding the Reader service does fix it for a while. I don't think the name has anything to do with it though; I don't even give it a name and I still have the problem.
NNW, Gruml and Reeder are synching fine; so this must be related to Socialite's method.

ah i see - thanks mdotbb - guess i will have to wait and see :-) it is very frustrating though....

been having the same problem since yesterday, still unable to login! however netnewswire works fine!

Yup same for me. I advised Socialite via Twitter, but they reckon it was a Google problem. Sorry guys, this isn't google, it's Socialite. Sure you can fix it though.

HI Guys
Thanks for your messages. We're looking into this. We've seen this happen a couple of times on our end, however after a couple of hours Socialite was back to working just fine. We're continuing to look into this and try to isolate the cause of the matter: however as nothing's changed on our end it's likely that Google have made some changes to Reader that we may need to look into for a future update.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Kind regards,
Nik

Add me to the list that is sick of a paid app not working as it should.

And again this happened. Didn't even make it a week! Jeez.

Not working at all for me anymore. Whats the deal guys?
16 Posted by tony on 09 Feb, 2010 01:53 AM
This has been happening to me periodically. It's just gotten much worse, the work around no longer works. I can not use google reader through socialite. It won't login.
17 Posted by mdotbb on 09 Feb, 2010 01:56 AM
Same for me. This time the workaround won't work.
18 Posted by woody on 09 Feb, 2010 01:57 AM
The workaround has stopped working for me as well. Back to Gruml until this is fixed.

Just happened again. Pathetic.

Same here. Yet again.
21 Posted by FarmerMike on 09 Feb, 2010 03:02 AM
Same old, same old. I am NOT deleting Google Reader subscriptions again. Renaming it doesn't do anything to fix this. I'm kinda getting the shits of Socialite.
22 Posted by rtteachr on 09 Feb, 2010 03:10 AM
Don't think it is socialite this time. I can't sync subscriptions on MobileRSS on my iPod Touch tonight either. Think it is a google reader thing this time. Hopefully fixed soon.
23 Posted by FarmerMike on 09 Feb, 2010 03:12 AM
Just deleted Google Reader service. Now I can't even add it back. Won't log in at all.
24 Posted by Jay on 09 Feb, 2010 03:13 AM
Wow, for once I don't think it's Socialite this time either. Reeder on iPhone isn't able to check either. This is the FIRST time Reeder has failed as well.
25 Posted by Craig on 09 Feb, 2010 03:17 AM
I can't NetNewsWire to connect either. Guessing this one's on the Google side.
Additionally, going to Reader directly in a browser made me re-auth a number of people I share content with, so they probably changed something.
26 Posted by mdotbb on 09 Feb, 2010 03:18 AM
I take it back. Reeder won't connect either. Google hosed everyone. Sorry for assuming it was Socialite's issue this time.
27 Posted by Jay on 09 Feb, 2010 03:20 AM
I don't think that's such a bad assumption considering the history
28 Posted by woody on 09 Feb, 2010 03:23 AM
NetNewsWire is updating fine. Updates are not working in Socialite.
29 Posted by rtteachr on 09 Feb, 2010 03:34 AM
I don't think NNW has to use google reader.
30 Posted by rtteachr on 09 Feb, 2010 03:53 AM
My iPod RSS reader started working again. Saw a tweet from that developer saying the Google Reader API changed hosing all the rss readers. Not sure why Socialite isn't working yet. Hopefully fix is coming.
