Socialite Version 1.0.2 (1013)

So, how many ways is this update broken?

To start with, it has resurrected a Twitter service which I deleted weeks ago (part of trying to get a previous version working when it was failing to authorise the account) and it puts it back in the sidebar every time I restart the application. The Twitter service I replaced it with also appears in the side bar, but …

It's gone back to ignoring when items have been read, but only every time the application is restarted. This affects Twitter counts and RSS feeds, but not Facebook, it would seem.

Unread counts are also wrong in Twitter. Instead of the Unread sidebar link giving the total number of unread tweets, it's totalling the individual unread tweet counts in the main service, 'My Timeline', lists and all saved profiles and searches.

Also on every restart, Flickr has to be authorised again and it seems to be 50/50 whether this will work or not. (On the last few occasions after clicking Authorise on the Flickr page – in which Socialite is still identifying itself as v.1.01 – it won't highlight the 'Continue' button).

Oh, and to cap it all, the Twitter sidebar user icons are now upside-down.

If there's any information I can provide to help fix this, please let me know. Just please don't suggest I delete and re-add services again. It's obviously not working for the Twitter service that will not die, and I've done enough of that – kind of had enough of it for now.

Oh, and to top it all, I've just discovered that the Event Box beta has now 'expired'. I paid for this application, it was working with no problems until I updated it with Socialite, and I was just thinking about migrating back to it. Is there any way this could be re-released so those of us who liked it can have it back again please?

    Hi Mark

Thanks for your message. Could you clarify whether you migrated from an existing Eventbox installation or started with a fresh Socialite 1.0 installation? Whilst I appreciate that starting a new library isn't ideal, it's highly likely that the Twitter account not being removed would be due to a migration issue from an early build of Eventbox.

Whilst we spent a fair amount of time working on the migration, given that some users have been using incredibly old builds of Eventbox (and not updating along the way) it's not always possible to test against every scenario!

As Eventbox was always released as a beta, we have no plans to re-issue it- it's no longer supported by us (as we're developing the code for Socialite, but not Eventbox).

If you're able to restart your services, please be sure to run through the following FAQ that provides you with a rundown of the best steps to take when doing this:

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Kind regards,

I was using an up-to-date version of Event Box (as much as I was able to with the automatic updates) and started using Socialite when 1.0 was released, and that did all the migration. I had to delete and replace all services to get that to work properly (the read items not staying read issue) and ran afoul of the bad 1.01 release.

Right- going to kill everything, and delete/reinstall the app as per the FAQ page. This better work now...

OK, so I did everything in the FAQ - killed any files mentioned, binned the Application and downloaded it again - and all the problems I listed went away, only for another one to appear! Hurrah!

If Socialite refreshes the services when the display is inactive (when attached to power, my MBP is set to never go to sleep) it hangs itself, Finder and anything else it can. It's obviously during an update, as all the update circular arrow icons are still on display in the sidebar. It's usually possible to open one application once this has happened, but nothing else will then open. This still occurs in Safe Boot mode (I just recreated it by booting up into it, opening nothing but Socialite, then leaving it for an hour or so) and neither Force Quit nor 'kill -9 (process ID)' from the terminal prompt will stop Socialite or Finder.

I'm currently running OS X 10.5.8, build 9L31a on a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MBP with 2Gb of RAM, and this is the same version/build of Socialite as I started the thread with. Is there any other information you need to fixthis? As I said, I can recreate the problem, but I'm not sure what information I can get, as I can only restart the computer by the power button, and I don't get any crash reports when Socialite starts up again afterwards.
