All data lost in migration?

I just downloaded Socialite, and after it ran, indicating it was migrating all data from Event Box, it then presents me with the screen to enter the serial number. I do this, and then it thanks me for my purchase, and then crashes. I tried reusing Event Box instead, and found that ALL my feeds and services were empty.

WTF? Seriously, guys?

Epic fail.

    Well I'm the opposite situation.
It imported my accounts from EventBox, but it looks like the database was corrupted.
Deleting it in the Finder and recreating it properly through the application corrected some nasty Facebook issues.

I eventually deleted it in the Finder and had to recreate everythign from scratch, but the process cleared some nasty Facebook issues I was having,

I had the same problem as Josh - Socialite ran, I entered my s/n, then it just hung at "Performing library migration". Opened Eventbox, and everything's gone.

This is a very bad situation.

I get the 'Migrating data' dialog, then Socialite crashes. The console message is "Fatal error, cannot extract source model, qutting (sic)".

Then I read the FAQ, which instructs me to trash all my application support data and preferences, then manually re-enter all my accounts and RSS feeds. I'm further informed that "although we can appreciate that in some cases the process of creating a new library or removing keychains is not ideal, it does help us determine what is causing these issues and how we can go about improving Socialite to make it a robust and sturdy application."

Come again? How does my working around the broken data migration help you fix Socialite? In fact, allows you to avoid fixing it.

    Disappointed, to say the least.

Okay—I'm no longer quite as furious, because I was able to export my feeds from EventBox as OPML and import them into Socialite. Of course, I still have to manually mark read articles (or rather, "mark all as read," followed by marking individual, unread items as unread. And I pity those whose EventBox data were lost (or who trashed their prefs on the advice of the FAQ before realizing what it meant).

    Hi Guys

Thanks for your messages. I'm sorry you're having issues. We spent a fair amount of time working on the migration, however given that there are some incredibly old beta builds of EventBox out there, it's possible that in a smal number of cases the migration was not successful. Now that we're migrated to the new Socialite format (which is self-contained, unlike previous Eventbox libraries) future migrations will be far smoother.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Nik
