no confirmation when I "thumbs up" a facebook post

I cannot tell if I have "thumbs-upped" a facebook post succesfully (whether it went through on the server) especially since if I click on the same icon multiple times, it changes from blue to white. A fix would be a number showing how many thumbs-ups a post has, that would increase when I click the thumbs up.
