Offsite page that opens in new window
Realmac Software,
I am using RW (v5.0.2) and have an offsite page that links to a separate URL. I would like that link to be an external link, but when I select the option for "Open in New Window" under the page properties dialog, it is not working. I am using a custom-designed theme that I created myself based on a simple RW theme.
In looking in the generated source code, I see that the navigation link that is being created for the page still lists as rel="self" instead of rel="external". Is this normal? Or is there something that isn't working correctly? I would think that checking the option to open the page in a new window would set the "rel" tag to be "external".
Can this be done? You can see a development version of the site here: http://tinyurl.com/4sh7mqg
It is the "Trading Products" page that needs to link offsite in a new window.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
- John

Hi John,
Thanks for the message. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with RapidWeaver, I understand what an inconvenience this may be for you.
Are you able to recreate this issue in a new test project which uses a native theme and not third-party plugins or custom code? As I am currently unable to locate this issue myself.
Kind regards,
Luke

Luke,
Well... I took your advice. I started with a new RW project. Selected the "Manitoba" theme. Added two pages... a Styled Text home page and an offsite page set to "Open in new Window". Published. Tested. Worked like a charm. Checked the code of the published page... it showed the offsite page as "rel=external".
So then I changed the theme to the same one I was having trouble with before... republished. AND IT STILL WORKED LIKE IT SHOULD!! And showed "rel=external" in the published code.
So... there must've just been something weird going on with that specific RW project. Or I was only looking at the source code view in RW and not actually publishing. Either way, the customer changed their mind and I'm not using an offsite page for a main-level navigation item anymore.
Thanks so much for your response... sorry to be trouble.
