[Bug Report] mismatching colors in Firefox and Safari

A week ago I reported to NCD Developer Nick, that Rapidweaver doesn't render HTML5 correct, now it's time for the next major issue. If this is again because of Rapidweaver and not due to the Theme (Aqua from elixirgraphics.com) I will have to admit that I'll be very disappointed.

It's a common practise to set the option in Rapidweaver to render all pictures as JPG's, since no good Website exists of PNG's only. But when preparing all PNG's for Rapidweaver and pre-save them them with the correct background color as JPG I found out something which I'm not quite sure is caused by the theme or Rapidweaver. See for yourself… the attached picture is pretty self explanatory. The bigger the picture the more this flaw will stand out. So, how can this happen and how to prevent this?

    Hi Patrick

Thanks for your message. the issue with HTML5 rendering is something we're looking into. Due to the complex nature of RapidWeaver's code base it's not something we can instantly remedy, however we are looking into it.

For this issue: are you saving the image with a colour profile embedded? Do you have a URL to show this happening - and what version of Firefox are you using?

    Thanks

    Nik

    Hi Nik,

at first I also thought that I'm saving files with a colour profile embedded since I recently updated to CS5 and had to clear my Photoshop cache.
So I calibrated my Monitor again and disabled color profiles in PS. It's kind a of strange issue, because when I export with Rapidweaver my JPG
get's another color. I tested this with my own websites and the same image is like it should be.

I made a website which explains the whole problem:

    http://i.blnr.de/rwcolor/

    Cheers,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick

Could you confirm that, in the Page Inspector -> General tab that images are set to use the 'Original' format setting? I'm looking into this now - could you confirm the version of Firefox you're using?

    Thanks!

    Hi Nik,

I've tested both export variants. I attached the "Original" format setting in another iFrame at the bottom of http://i.blnr.de/rwcolor

In case you want to review them separately:

    http://i.blnr.de/rwcolor/rw/index.html - export format "JPG"
    http://i.blnr.de/rwcolor/rw2/index.html - export format "Original"

Firfox 3.5.11, but all non-webkit browsers seem to have similar issues.

    Cheers.

    Hi Patrick

Have you tried the site in Firefox 3.6 at all? I'm just trying to narrow down what's causing this - and there's 3.6.8 out :)

As an interim solution, the best thing to do would be to offer the images as PNGs.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Nik

I tried 3.6.8 and Firefox 4.0.b4 and some other non-webkit browsers.

The strange thing is that even the file from the theme changes the color slightly.

I also told my dad to use PNGs as a temporary solution (a hard decision for so. with
several Lightbox galleries on his websites, loading speed with 600x800 png isn't great).

I guess we will have to sit this out till there's an fix for this issue that keeps original
images original - on the Rapiweaver and on the user side.
