Blog summaries not showing up in RSS feed
I have the "summarize entries in RSS feed" box checked in RW,
but my blog entries are still showing up in their entirety in my
RSS feed. I've tried everything I can think of to get only
summaries and "Read more..." to appear in my feed, but nothing is
working. If I insert a summary in my blog post, I just get
summaries on my website (which I don't want), but still have the
full blog entries in my feed. It's driving me batty. I want
summaries in my RSS feed but full entries on my website. Does
anyone know what the fix is here?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for the message. In RapidWeaver's native Blog page the post 'Summary' is different from the RSS feed summary option in the Page Inspector.
The former is a way to manually summarise your blog content. The later is an option in the page inspector to use Mac OS X's native text summary to create a summary of your RSS feed and the only configureable option is a word limit - otherwise this is unfortunately something that can be configured.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Kind regards,
Luke

Hi Luke -- Thanks for your response. If I understand you correctly,
it is with the page inspector that I'm having the problem. I did
click the summarize box in the PI, and I did specify a word limit.
However, none of this is showing up in my RSS feed, because the RSS
feed continues to show my entire blog posts word for word. It's like
it's not even recognizing the information keyed in in the page
inspector.
I'm using FeedBurner, if that makes any difference.
Thanks again.

Hi Tracey,
Could we get a link to the RSS feed in question so that we could further investigate this issue as we are currently unable to recreate this ourselves. Thanks!
Kind regards,
Luke

But of course. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
The feed address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/StressFreeTomorrowBlog.
Thank you so much for looking into this.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for sending that over. Which RSS aggregator are you using to view your feed? As I am unable to recreate this issue in Socialite (the Realmac social aggregator which includes RSS- see screenshot). This would suggest that the issue may be with your RSS aggregator rather than the RapidWeaver output itself. Could you try viewing it with a different aggregator?
Kind regards,
Luke

Hi Luke -- Thanks so much for that screen shot.
Good grief. I guess this is what comes from having absolutely zero
knowledge of RSS aggregators. The one I use is the one that came with
my Mac Mini, and I have absolutely no idea what it's called. I just
assumed we all saw our RSS feed the same way, but I guess that would
be too easy.
Anyway, thanks so much for -- I think -- clearing this up for me. I'm
going to have to spend some time this weekend digging into this a
little deeper to see if I can't get this aggregator thing taken care of.
Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Luke -- I just wanted to send you a quick update, because I think I
figured out the problem with my RSS feed.
It appears the problem is with FeedBurner. After a lot of searching,
I discovered there is a service within FeedBurner called Summary
Burner, and you have to activate that to get your blog posts to
summarize in the RSS feed.
Anyway, I thought this might be helpful to someone else in the future,
so I wanted to let you know.
