LS mangles images when blurred

Hi there --

I've just come across an image where LS distorts the image in a strange way after having a portion of it blurred out. Please see the attached screenshot. You'll see that the columns don't line up properly in the blurred region. Instead, everything is shifted to the left by a good half-dozen pixels. Any way to fix this?

Thanks,
-Henry

p.s. I'm using LS 1.7. I just checked and even though it's dated 2009, there is no update available. Is this a 'terminal version', or do you have plans to keep improving / fixing it?

    Hi Henry,

Thanks for your message. Sorry that you've run into this inconvenience. Is there any image, other than the one you have here that does this? I've just tried the blur on a similar image and things don't seem to be shifted, with more info we'll be able to track this down better.

This is not a terminal version! We're actively working on upgrades to LittleSnapper.

    Kind regards,

    Ash,

    Hi Ash

The problem's easily reproducible. It looks to have something to do with the cropping of the blurred image. Enclosed are a few more dumps. You'll see that if I reposition the blurred area (by clicking it in LS and dragging it -- not changing its size), then the image gets mangled. It looks like perhaps if the blurred region goes off the edge of the original image (e.g, if I shift it up and/or left), then things get corrupted. I don't see the same corruption if I shift things down and right.

    Does this help?

    Best,
    -Henry

    Hi Henry

We're looking into this currently. Are you seeing this in-app or when exporting the image?

    Thanks!

    Nik

    Hi Nik --

When I'm looking at the 'full size' image in LS -- that is, where I can edit, blur, etc -- then it looks correct. When I condense that view into a thumbnail, and when I export, then it gets messed up.

    Thanks,
    -Henry

    Hi Henry

Thanks for your message. We're looking into this for a future update as the co-ordinates of the blur on the image are sometimes getting mis-placed.

    Thanks!

Great, and I'll look forward to the fix. Thanks!

By the way, LS is definitely one of those apps that I thought I'd never use, but it turns out I use it nearly every day. It's awesome.

    Best,
    -Henry
